It’s great to work for a company that empowers all employees and contractors to be forward thinkers and concentrate on how to make our clients lower-cost producers. My strength is to focus mainly on the mechanical side, determining how to fit our equipment onto clients’ sanders and other machinery, while adapting our cleaning equipment functions to most efficiently and economically  work with the clients’ cleaning applications. It’s very rewarding to achieve or surpass clients’ expectations.

One of my passions is the world we live in and protecting our environment. The benefits that our systems provide to the environment are almost unmatchable. I’ve seen the stacks of abrasive sanding belts that are loaded, replaced, and then discarded. These piles of used sanding belts are filling up our landfills. In most cases, there is no need for this, as most of the time, the belts are not worn out, but are loaded. This load can be removed to find an almost new belt underneath.

Most sanding belts will take many centuries to deteriorate. To cut down on the amount of these abrasives going to the landfills by a factor of 4 times, 6 times, or as many as dozens of times makes a great contribution. In addition, all of the materials, utilities, labor and transportation that go into making the replacements can be avoided. It’s truly one of the best recycling applications there is, with one of the biggest impacts I have ever seen. When you add in that you really get paid to clean your belts via the significant savings, you can’t pass it up.

I love what I do. I’m an accountant by training, and I have an absolute connection when I interact with people and their companies to make their products better, to lower their production costs, and improve worker safety. When we lower a client’s cost of sanding by 70% to 90% and make them a lower-cost producer, it makes them stronger. Some companies say their abrasive savings are great, but their most meaningful result of belt cleaning is their quality enhancement, their employee safety enhancement, or their environmental impact. Knowing that our products make things better for wood producers in so many ways keeps us stimulated and striving for a further reach.
